It's a book about a boy who play with his paperboat, the author request is to make character of a boy with Philippines background, although Philippines it's still in the Southeast Asia, I still have to search the local content of Philippines house and style, along with their traditional dress and style.

I spent my time with the tadpoles.
They are so tiny.
So vulnerable yet so sweet.
I spent my time with the tadpoles.
and I like them... 

:: We found these guys in our backyards, as the raining season comes, with so many loud croaks of thousand frogs, here they are.. 

:: and make a journal of their lives, the eggs hatching in only 1 day, but the tadpole phase is still a long long way to go, we feed these guys spinach and lettuce, with a little fish pellets every two days.. grow big dear little froggies!

Noisy, annoying, little satellite!

We have this in Indonesia- what we called- mimi' little flies, who  like the warmth of a human breath and because of that, they are  fond to be near of human nose, and they are so tiny, yes, tiny and annoying, ...  arggh!

* this is an experiment doodle using a flowing ink, if you know what I mean :)

First you make a path using a water with your brushes, then add the color while the path is still wet, the result is unpredictable, I've seen some artist using this technique but I forget their names.

Try it! It's fun!

Let's talk about the technique, it's charcoal with a little color from pencil.

Look at the hands.. I'm not too good with the finger anatomy, though I'm quite happy with how the blanket turn out to be.
And now I don't think I have the patience to do a naturalist portrait style, let's keep the children style shall we?
