Coba Lagi.. Coba lagi... (Book- The Boy Who Can Not Tie His Shoes)

Grraaah!  I like my new shoes but why it's so hard to tie it!

It's a book about process,
a determination and a story about
a young boy who have a new shoes but don't have any idea how to tie one.

First time I read the script, it gives me a wide smile,

I can picture  every single expression this little dude will be; happy, determined, stress, tired, relieved.

And I do wish that everyone who read this to their young, will express it while they read it, every single expression, and watch how the listener will also change their own expression, that will be fun!

Make this book as a fun one, make them learn about patience, process, and result, at last :).

Don't you agree?

Just contact the publisher to get the book : aksaberama@gmail.com

From Rock to Rock - Children book illustration

The final result for my post about The frog who lost his home  .
Story by Ary Nilandari.

In this project I try to put the effort on the details, about the frog family expression, the mountain of stones that been taken away by the human, and the beauty of the ecosystem in this story. As this story are real life situation , about the rocks mining in Java, a little bit of Javanese culture is put inside the details, like the the "blangkon' that the frog put on their head, the batik for dancing, and gamelan for the music instruments. Enjoy.. :)

Sketches and sketches...

:: Give our rock back!

:: Maybe we can do something...

:: From rock to rock we jump and play, from rock to rock we dance and sing!

Book: Cap Go Meh

Finally done! Been doing this 15 spread books illustration in 2 weeks, errgg I'm so tired and so overwhelmed at the same time! I really love the story line because it really take a lot of courage to lift the topic of different religion and race in Indonesia, I hope this book could give a positive mind set for those who read it, that all religion is good, it is us, as human being, who have to learn a lot more about humanity and tolerance, no matter what race are we, what religion are we...

So.. enjoy.. :)

Fairies

Poor blog, I'm verrry veryyy lazy to do some update,  so much things to do, but wake up! wake up! You've got to start to writing again..! Wish me luck on this..

This is my recent sticker book like I've told you in this post, almost published  now it's still on the printing process.

I know girls like fairies, I like them too, but recently all the myth that I have about fairies is contaminated, yes, contaminated if I might said, with all the barbie like fairies stuff, and all the disney typical of fairies it's all so industrial and at the same time it's so commercial, so I really want to make this fairies not- look- a like all the girlie things that I've already said above.

It's still girlie, still have all the dazzling gown and stuff. But I might assure you that the  fairy that I have in my mind since I was a little girl, they're  in this book.  So, enjoy .. :))

:: And this is a doodle, err... is she a fairy, or elves.., just inspired by Disney- Tangled.
Don't get me wrong, I love Disney works, but not the industry :D

New Books- Ketahuan! Gotcha!

One of my favorite books that I've made so far.

The story is about a little girl who always hear 'something' at night, and she's sure that it was her toys that making that strange noises.

It's a rather classical story for me,
who never dreaming about an alive toys, dolls, or stuffed animals? And as we grow older the imagination 'Puff!'- gone!
anyway, I love this kind of story, always.. :)

Books- Crocodile Tears "Air mata buaya"

I fell with this one, when I first read the story.
It's about a sensitive little crocodile who really, really, easily cry whenever something bad happened, but this time he really give a real tear from the bottom of his heart, not a crocodile tears as in the idioms, and this story so fun to illustrate that make me want to make it as comical and 'silly' but also cute for the children.

And it was about 6 months ago, when I was called by one f my favorite children book author in Indonesia, Clara Ng.

Quite a surprise, and I was more surprised when I found out that I was going to work with my illustrator friends in these book series, the series are called a 7 minutes story, there are 7 books each illustrated beautifully by 4 different illustrators. We shared process and encouraged each other during the making of these books, I'm really happy that I could experienced this. Girls you're all great!
So again, enjoyed!

:: The sketches when the monkey unintentionally splat a green paint into the yummy porridge. Ugh! *_*

I love sketches!

I love sketches, I learn from them, old sketches , new sketches, I see so many in them, patience, desperation, hope, eagerness, process, happiness, and my self inside them.

This is a little bit of the sketches that I'd made for a children books project, aligned with the IF- clumsy rabbit that I've already post, I'll show you the project as soon as the books comes
out. It's a promise :)

IF- clumsy

'Bejo'* the rabbit is so clumsy that he make everyone didn't get their milk today

*'Bejo' is an Indonesian name means 'lucky' :)

part of my recent work, thought this might fit the IF topic this week :)
