Origami for toddler

We love origami!

Not the difficult one :)
We love the simple one, easy to make, easy to laugh at, easy to play.

































Our favorite is this one, the helicopter, I'm amazed that it could fly and turn so smooth, bless the inventor!

Welcoming November!

November berartiii..... 2 bulan lagi ke hari Natal,
Mika suka nanyain bulan sekarang, hari ini bulan apa, ma..? Kalo besok bulan apa? Dia kira bulan itu sama dengan hari, kalau hari ini Bulan November, besok itu bulan Desember.. , dan kalo saya jelasin besok itu masih November sampai 30 hari seterusnya, mukanya berubah... 'Maaaaah, kenapa masih lama siiih!??'

Ini beberapa aktivitas dibulan November, sengaja saya cari yg berbau2 Natal, dengan tujuan buat menenangkan dia hehe..

Snowflake

Cards and stamps

Phew! It's been a busy day lately :), forgive me dear blog, for I don't have time to talk to you lately

I introducing 'the cards' to Mika, I mean 'the cards' because it's my collectible card since I was 11 years old, and it becomes a vintage cards for her, I'm surprised she like the games a lot, and it is a very interesting way of teaching win and lose thing to a child.














We also make a stamp from potatoes, it's quite nice, though I end up making a really weird stamp from it, the art knife really a tricky tools for me- hem!

End of School Year- preschool

This month Mika will be graduate from preschool, and the teacher give us the whole project to look at, I believe it is an amazing experience for every parents to see their children creation, as for me it's like looking at her personal journal of learning and seeing new things everyday.

This is just part of her project, every time she went to school, she drew her expression, maybe her or her friend, I loveee looking at this, it's like having your own sticker with a personal touch from your kid :D..

As for my self it is a privilege for me to be able to work and look at her growth from home. For everything is passing so fast, thanks God for this opportunity.. :')

Simple Critter and Stencil

Whoa.. I never though stenciling could bring so much fun.. Thanks for Amanda from soulemama, this is our first attempt doing some, I think we're gonna do it a lot from now on..

The first one is a success, so we try to make a bunny drawing on a shirt, but it seems a lot more chicken than a bunny.. :)





I think the little artist get a little too excited here..

Stenciling *in bahasa
1. Kertas bungkus nasi, yang coklat baliknya ada plastiknya itu
2. Gambar di bagian yang tidak berplastik
3. Potong gambar dengan art knives, supaya rapih- bagian yang dipotong adalah bagian yang nanti akan diwarnai
4. Setrika, nanti si kertas bungkusnya nempel deh
5. Warnai dgn cat tekstil
6. Copot kertasnya.. tadaaa.. jadi deh!

It's all about eggs

This is what we do last Easter, all about eggs, and thanks to the internet about the tips on how to blow egg, it's so simple and it is so nice to do an egg painting, wish we have know it earlier!


















:: 2 hours project- Each egg painted with poster color, sketched with marker, dried.. and finishing with clear pylox, and their name is 'looney- grumpy and eerie'.... *-^






















:: Instant project- Construction paper egg, I cut a few shapes for Mika, then she decide to make her own egg design..



















:: really-really instant- Plastic egg with many colors, and a timer self potrait project- make sure that the camera is in the safe position! :D

A new hole, the alphabet, and the tripod

Err... just to confused finding the right words.. Just what happened lately in our house, this is the first one



Her first wishlist as a rabbit. Bunny have made a hole for herself, not yet move in but soon I think, she kept diggin and diggin, making my backyard so messy with all the soil - in rainy season!- hmph! but I just let her finish, I never see a rabbit hole before.. maybe next time she will be asking for a mate? *_*

I'm trying to keep the other little girl busy, trying to teach her how to read now, oooh.. how I admire teacher- how- tell me how- to teach a toddler to read, I don't even remember the first time, Mika always asking about how to read books, but always confuse in the spelling thing- maybe because the mother is a confuserrr.. heehee... So I do this playing with spelling thing, outside, drawing the letter, using picture, instead of using books and pencil, so far so good, I think she becomes interesting in this spelling activity, not more than 5-10 minutes per lesson :D..

Birthday and drawing!

Instead of giving Mika an instant birthday cake, I want her and her cousins to decorate their own version of cake. So I bought a plain mini cakes with many color of icing sugar, and give it to the kids, and few little candles to blow for each kids, yes it's beyond tradition, and yes, they have a good time with this activity, so why bother.. :D

I can say that they actually draw on the cakes, it's beautiful to see the excitement and the proud expression on their face.

And they ate their masterpiece with no doubt, taste it like it was the most delicious cake in the world... nice little world... :))

Grated coconut with food coloring could give so much fun, this is my childhood play.. and it still applicable till now.. :)

Dari botol biasa, ditempeli double tape dan kancing2, katanya ini 'Robot Babi'

Panas sekali udaranya, akhir2 ini, emang bener ya global warming effect?

November Rain Inside Activity

Musti cari aktivitas didalem rumah nih, udah ujan terus belakangan. Inget sama buku yang aku ilustrasiin buat Arleen, jadinya bikinlah itu teepee Indian.

Bahannya gampang dari kertas koran digulung2 dijadiin piramid.

"Mika, bikin rumah indian yuk?"
" Yuk, yuk, gimana mah?
Dari koran diapain mah? ikutan ya?!!"

Butuh 4 gulungan koran panjang.
Dan 4 gulungan koran pendek.

Baru satu gulungan koran panjang.

" Udah blom mah???!!" sembari loncat2 ala monchichis

"Belom neng, bentar ya.."

3 gulungan koran panjang.
"Bletak!"
"Aduh! Neng, ati2 bawa korannya.. bisa nyodok2 orang..." mataku kesodok koran, asik deh!

Sekarang gulungan yg pendek.
"udah belom mah, diapain mah?" - rewind statement ini kira2 6-12 kali.

Akhirnya kelar.

Komen terakhir "Pintunya mana mah?"
dhaaaaaaa.......

:: Indiannya ngantuk abis maen, terus minta makan, abis itu tidur didalem teepeenya.

Little carpenter

"but I want to play hammer and screw, moommm..." and her face reddened, waiting for approval and her eyes shed a little tears. [emak gives her this idea this morning :) ]


















Looking here and there to make her little one stop crying, at last she found a sterofoam, a wood hammer plaything and a screw, at last... , that knocking sound is perfect, for tonight, and the day after.. , and the monkeys do looks good..

Independence Day Carnaval in school

Mika's going to have her first Independence Day carnaval this Friday

so what do you want to be?

We are free to choose between a Profession , Fairy Tale or Traditional Costume, consider the budget, attractivity and effectivity this is the alt.

First alternatives: witch or 2nd alternatives-Hula Dancer like in Lilo & Stitch , both is easy to make, I tend to choose the hula dancer costume considering the heat in Jakarta lately... :'( pyuh.. I guess we've got the global warming impact already..

But at last she choose the witch costume, well.. it have the moon paper and star attached to it, remind me of Albus Dumbledore, we borrowed it from cousin James and it comes without hat, so we'd make one.. and it comes like this.., it have the pink hair like Tonks { if you read HP you'll know Tonks :) }

I'd find the pattern from the internet :: forgot the site .. but it look like this, quite easy to follow..

ow ow... and tomorrow we'll going to find some stick and make a wand from it... :)

Countdown to Independence Day
Were going to have our Independence Day on the 17th of August. There's flag everywhere, and Mika always yell " yaaayy...." everytime she sees flag now, and always asking to buy flag from 'bapak tukang bendera - the flagman', so we make flags from paper, and then it goes like this- the little one is for papa because he's big enough, and the big one is for me, because I'm still small...

Water Bubble Play
This is my childhood favourite game with water, using anykind of cloth, cotton will be better, just try capturing as many air as you can with the cloth, hold it so it will look like an air ballon,
drawn it and squeezeee........,
the feel of the bubble is wonderful.. :)


Mika and I use to play pretend that it was an octopus, or a sinking submarine... :) it can make the little one giggling and make you feel flying.. :)
